Beyond her iconic Comme des Garçons collections Rei Kawakubo has offered up a number of impressive sneaker collaborations. One standout partnership involves her distinctive transformations of the Converse Chuck Taylor, all under her sub-label, Comme des Garçons PLAY. Kawakubo's first rendition of the Converse Chuck Taylors debuted in 2009, characterised by a stripped-back design that eliminated contrast stitching. In 2015 the Comme des Garçons Converse utilised the All Star Chuck 70s as the canvas, resulting in a shoe so beloved that it has seen re-releases and updates ever since. Whilst not offering a large footwear selection customers have been able shop the Comme des Garçons Converse at W2 since the very first iteration.
